Life Drawing

I've always been of the philosophy that I can do anything I set my mind to. But try as I might I can't draw. I've taken several computer illustration classes (I actually got really good at computer illustrating sewing instructions.) I took one Fashion Illustration course working with the 9 head elongated fashion model, that didn't workout very well. Again I did get really good at drawing the technical spec's for the fashion garment.

I just can't draw the human figure, I can't visualize it, I can't proportion it, no matter how hard I try. So what do I do. I try again. I enrolled in a Life Drawing class. Monday was a long day (well all mondays from now till the end of the semester will be long days for me) Class is from 4:40 to 10 pm.

And we actually spent that whole time drawing (and yes there was a nude model) I didn't run out of the room screaming! I will learn to draw the human figure to the best of my ability.

Luckily we started out with Gesture drawing, I'm really really good with scribbles:

Then moved to contour drawing - Not so good at all:

Then blind Contour - not to bad, in my opinion:

Oh FYI - I'm still in the middle of my Etsy shop makeover - The group has finished but I'm still several weeks behind. Hopefully I move on to a Blog Makeover - it needs it. I need more hours in the day.

Good job with your life drawings! I think they look really good, actually! I bet that would be a fun class to take, even if a little stressful at times.
Good luck with your etsy shop make over. If you need any help with the blog design, designing blogs is about my favorite thing to do in the blogging world. I can't really do any more than what you see on my blog but if you need any pointers, let me know.
Have a good day Sonia! cya round,
CK

Wow! Try and try again... one day you will get it! I can say that your drawings look pretty good to me! I am HORRIBLE drawing, on paper, on the computer, even in my dreams I am a horrible artist. I don't have the patience to perfect. I look forward to seeing your progress. Oh...on the NUDE model end of things... Awkward. I would have been snickering like a group of teen girls!

Thank you ladies! You'll get a kick out of this weeks homework, man I can't believe I haven't blogged. I'm going to have to figure out a better schedule! I wasn't going to post it, because it's so bad. But I guess since I started this I should just do it till the end of the semester, better way to chronicle my progress. Plus I don't mind the support, I almost walked out of class yesterday.
